NABCEP Test Preparation Review
#SolarMOOC Webinar with Jeff Gilbert
Review of a Case Study Example:
Grid Direct String Inverter PV System Connected to Load Side of Service Panel
Thursday August 30, 2012
SolPowerPeople Inc. is proud to announce Azimuth Solar Training’s Jeff Gilbert as guest lecturer for the Massive Open Online Course #SolarMOOC live at 6pm CST on Thursday August 30, 2012. Jeff will walk through the NABCEP PV Installer™ Resource Guide Example One from section 8 [Case Study Examples – Example 8.1] during his live webinar.
In section 8 of the NABCEP PV Installer Resource Guide™, there are several examples that run through a system problem and the circumstances that need to be considered and worked through for a successful design. Jeff will walk us through the first of these problems in section 8.1: Grid Direct String Inverter PV System Connected to Load Side of Service Panel. In this example, key system components and location are provided and 11 questions are asked including concepts such as conductor and breaker sizing, determination of ideal array configuration, and voltage drop. Jeff will run through this example and provide explanations and guidance to help students understand these concepts.
With over 18 years of experience including renewable energy design, installation, troubleshooting and business development, Jeff Gilbert is considered a master of the PV industry and renewable energy technology. In 2000, Jeff cofounded Chesapeake Solar, which quickly became a leading mid-Atlantic renewable energy company. In 2008 Chesapeake Solar was listed in Inc. Magazine as one of the 500 fastest growing small companies. Aware of its position as a hot commodity, groSolar acquired the reins of Chesapeake Solar, leaving Jeff with an open opportunity to dive into training to share his experience and expertise with others who also envision a world where all energy production is sustainable.
With a history of working with organizations such as the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Renewable Energy Labs (NREL) , and the current Chesapeake chapter of the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC), Jeff is thoroughly ingrained in the solar sector and has woven himself into the fibers of the system to become an invaluable resource to the solar community.
Jeff currently provides technical and business training for the solar community and is working to create an on demand video based learning program for solar certification preparation and for continuing education. His training facility in Columbia, MD will soon be a NABCEP approved Alternate Installation Experience Pathway provider. Interested individuals can find out more about Jeff Gilbert at his company website, Azimuth Solar Training.
